Self-taught well-known Haitian primitive artist Joseph Jean-Gilles was born in Aquin, Haiti, on February 26, 1943. His favorite subjects of tropical landscapes on the myriad flowering forms and rolling hills of Haiti depict his homeland's daily scenes in an ideal way. He participated in several exhibitions followed, such as at the Afro-American Museum of Harlem. Columbia University, Manhattan Beach, Museum of Modern Art without mentioning smaller artistic centers.
